Privacy policy

We collect information you provide directly, including:

• your name, email address, username, password, and account preferences;
• project titles, descriptions, updates, images, extracts, support tiers, and other content you publish;
• your follows, pledges, selected perks, and other activity on the platform; and
• messages or requests you send to us, including account and privacy requests.

If you join our waitlist or follow a project by email, we collect your email address and the verification and subscription information needed to manage that request.

When you use Longpress, we may also receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type. We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and protect the service.

We use personal information to:

• provide, maintain, and improve Longpress;
• create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, and respond to support requests;
• display projects and connect authors with readers;
• process pledges, refunds, cancellations, and related project activity;
• send transactional messages, service announcements, and updates you request;
• detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our terms;
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
• understand aggregate usage so we can make the service more useful.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for another company's targeted advertising.

We share information only as reasonably needed to operate Longpress, including with:

• service providers that host our infrastructure, database, email, storage, and application monitoring;
• Stripe, which processes payment information for pledges and returns tokenized payment references to us;
• other users, when you choose to publish a profile, project, update, follow, or other public activity; and
• law enforcement, regulators, or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights and safety.

Service providers may process information only to perform services for us and under appropriate contractual safeguards. We do not permit them to use your information for their own unrelated marketing.

We send account, security, payment, project, and service messages that are necessary to provide Longpress. You can unsubscribe from optional launch or marketing messages using the instructions in the message or by contacting us. Unsubscribing from optional messages does not stop essential service communications.

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, complete transactions, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, accounting, and security requirements. You can request account deletion from your account settings. Longpress provides a recovery period before permanent deletion, after which account-owned records are removed or anonymized where practical. Some information may be retained when the law requires it or where it is needed for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, or dispute purposes.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To make a request, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Longpress is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service is completely secure. Our service providers or we may process information in countries other than the one where you live; where required, we use legally recognized transfer safeguards.

We may update this policy as Longpress changes. We will post the updated version here and change the effective date below. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
